65 year old . Born in Darlinghurst, Sydney and grew up in Wollongong in the industrial area of Port Kembla. Worked for W. C. Penfold's Port Kembla Printery. Our largest customer, Broken Hill Proprietory Ltd. Six year apprenticeship as a hand and machine compositor and studied Commercial Art. 1966 Moved to Mackay, Queensland after interview with the late H. J. Manning to work for the Mackay Daily Mercury. Soon after I took on the job of Sales rep for the printing industry and the newspaper business. I eventually succumbed to doing art work for the clients and the sales record suffered. I was the first artist employed by the company. Later I
worked throughout the Mackay Coal Mines of Mackay hinterland, but retired injured. Returned to newspaper industry as a part-time operator. Learned Mac computers at a Sticker Company. I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
I aspire to teach kids the art of sketching. Anything to do with Commercial Art. Cannot get past Government red tape. But I will keep trying.
